Position Description:
Integrated Micro-Chromatography Systems, Inc. (IMCS) seeks applicants for the research department. The candidate will work under the direction of a research scientist to execute and analyze experiments related to micro-sampling, solid-phase extraction techniques, and protein analysis while adhering to project deadlines. The candidate will learn many new skills on micropurification (protein purification, protein analysis) using various automated liquid handling systems (Hamilton Robotics, Dynamic Devices, Integra Biosciences). The successful candidate is expected to have solid fundamentals from undergraduate courses in biochemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry.
The internship program is 8 weeks in duration, starting in June 2024. The application deadline is 5/15/2024.
Eligibility:
Currently enrolled undergraduate in their last year or recent college graduates must have completed their last year of college within the last year (no earlier than January 2019) and must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions. Job Responsibilities:
- Perform experiments, communicating results and conclusions to aid team leader
- Contribute to ongoing development projects in a fast-paced research environment using a product development process
- Conduct clear and concise communication with supervisor through oral updates, written reports, and technical meetings
- Keep detailed lab notebooks, preparing reports, updates, and summaries for the team leader as directed
- All listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional tasks and responsibilities
Required Skills and Experience:
- Degree in biochemistry, chemistry, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting
- Detail-oriented with excellent laboratory, and experimental skills
- Strong data analysis skills, ability to interpret and draw conclusions from vast amounts of data
- Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to take ownership and accountability of assignments
- Must possess a desire to be part of a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Highly motivated, meticulous individual with the proven ability to think creatively toward solving problems effectively and efficiently.
