On Friday, March 20th, as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) became a worldwide threat to all nations, Pamela Quizon, PhD., one of our team of scientists, presented the idea of manufacturing hand sanitizer at IMCS based on FDA guidance. As a way to help the local healthcare community battle the COVID-19 epidemic, IMCS Chief Scientific Officer L. Andrew Lee, PhD. and IMCS Director of Operations Gray Amick, PhD. , greenlit the project.
On Monday, March 23rd, we had our first small production run of IMCS antiseptic rub (hand sanitizer) and, through relationships with SCBIO and local health systems, quickly scaled up production to meet demand. We have since produced over 100 liters to help fight this global pandemic. Special thanks to Pam and the IMCS Production Team for their work and dedication in helping South Carolina health systems win the COVID-19 fight!
