IMCStips® for Hamilton®

Flexible Sample Processing to Alleviate Workflow Challenges

IMCStips technology uses dispersive solid-phase extraction (dSPE) to provide simplified, highly efficient micro-purifications. The loose resin contained within IMCStips improves workflow efficiencies by facilitating the enhanced binding of analytes of interest during pipetting steps. By coupling this technology with the Hamilton automated liquid handling platform, methods are streamlined with the hands-free implementation of multiple aspirate and dispense cycles that facilitate consistent results, high recoveries, and faster workflows.

Analyte binding per aspiration was assessed using bromophenol blue dye diluted in water at varying concentrations. The binding capacity of IMCStips is limited by concentration as well as the chemical property of the analyte of interest (i.e logP values).
Purification of a single log of CHO cell fermentation using MabSelect SuRe LX resin (50 μL resin bed) by centrifugation (spin) and IMCStips. For consistency, the spin method utilized 100 x g RCF for five minutes and flow through samples were re-applied to the column either 3x or 5x, similar to the tip format. Spin format consistency yielded less mAb than tip based format, as indicated by the UV-Vis measurements (Abs @ 280 nm) above.

Gray D. Amick, Ph.D., is the Director of Operations at IMCS with over 26 years of experience in forensic DNA analysis and toxicology. Prior to joining IMCS, he led forensic DNA testing for the Richland County Sheriff’s Department as technical leader and lab director. He has been court-qualified as an expert over 100 times and has authored and co-authored multiple posters and peer-reviewed articles.

Research Scientist
Amanda C. McGee is a Research Scientist at IMCS involved with enzyme characterizations, new analytical method developments, and advanced technical support. She joined IMCS with several years of experience in analytical testing for active pharmaceutical ingredients as per cGMP, USP and ICH guidelines. She has co-authored peer reviewed articles in the Journal of Analytical Toxicology and presented research at national and international conferences.
